Biography
Until April 2011 Ian led the firms Manufacturing and Industrial Markets group
in London. Ian now leads our sovereign/larger corporate audit practice in the
emirate and specialises in international assurance engagements, most
particularly in the Energy and Industrial Sectors.
A Chartered Accountant
and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountant in England and Wales
(ICAEW), Ian trained with Arthur Andersen and spent 13 years at the firm before
joining Deloitte in 2002. Ian joined BDO in 2004 and is a specialist in
providing assurance services and financial reporting advice to international
groups and governments in the UK and UAE.
Ian acts for some of the firm’s
largest international Industrial clients, including Kentech Group and JMH Group,
both headquartered in UAE with global operations. Immediately prior to his new
role in the UAE, his clients included large energy generation businesses such as
Barking Power, one of Europe’s largest CCGT power stations. From the UAE, Ian
acts as EMEA Regional Coordinating partner for The Manitowoc Company Inc., a
Global BDO audit and tax client and a Fortune 500 manufacturer of cranes and
food service equipment.
Ian has extensive experience in the Energy space
working for both government and private sectors. His clients have included the
Nuclear Liabilities Fund, a UK government entity formed following the public
rescue of the UK Nuclear industry in 2006. As Auditor to Abu Dhabi's Supreme
Petroleum Council (SPC), Ian has provided advice and assurance services
connected with the emirate’s fiscal agreements with its oil and gas commercial
partners.
As the UK’s Country Coordinating partner for the Middle East
working from London, Ian has good knowledge of the region and is experienced in
leading the delivery of services to Middle East based clients.
Ian is a
graduate with BA (Hons) in Accountancy & Financial Management with Economics
at Sheffield University, UK.
