BDO UAE held its Annual Party on September 22, 2011 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai.
After the initial networking and group photographs, the staff settled down to what was to be a truly magnificent and unforgettable evening. It started with a welcome speech from our Managing Partner Mr. Russi Patel. The founder and true visionary that he is, the audience was spell-bound by his narrative of his humble beginnings in the profession and how he was able to steer the firm to being one of the premium professional firms in the region.
It was then time to look back at the firm’s performance over the past year, which showed a very healthy growth in most sectors, including a promising start in some of the new areas like risk advisory services. This was followed by a presentation on the firm’s growth plans for the future. Short term and long term targets were clearly spelt out, along with the means of achieving them.
We then had a very inspiring talk by Mr. Ian Plunkett on the topic “Your pride on BDO stride”. Dotted with anecdotes and inspiring quotes, he put across to the audience the message that though we can take pride on our achievements, we can go further towards achieving higher goals. He quite vehemently said that in the next 5 years time, he sees BDO breaking into the top 4 league, and that if we believe in ourselves, we have the potential to and certainly can achieve our dreams. This inspiring talk was then followed by a sumptuous dinner.
The audience then regrouped for an open forum wherein everyone was invited to ask questions. This forum threw up lots of eye-opening questions from staff, and was well appreciated by all for the honesty with which everyone participated to bring in new thoughts and ideas for the betterment of the firm. The evening closed with a Thank you note from Mr. Mohamed Afzal Koya, Joint Managing Partner.
